When your roof needs repairs and maintenance, you likely have a roofing contractor to complete those tasks. But there comes a time when your commercial building’s roofing system is so severely damaged and outdated that it needs replacement with a new one.

Different Kinds of Commercial Roofing Systems

Instead of buying the same roofing system, you want to consider looking for an alternative one that’s more durable and longer-lasting. You can find several different commercial roofing systems that you may choose to install on your commercial building. Let’s have a look at some of those choices:

1. Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) Roofing

The first kind of commercial roofing system to consider is the SPF. You can get it when you want to install eco-friendly materials on your residential or industrial building. The SPF is a material that roofing contractors spray on the roof, which first comes out as a liquid but will expand into a foam material.

Not too many commercial building owners utilize SPF roofing, but many contractors and building owners used it many years ago for their residential, industrial, and commercial buildings. What’s excellent about SPF roofing is it can withstand different climates, and it will last on your roof for 50 years with proper care and maintenance.

2. Single-Ply Membrane Roofing

The next commercial roofing system is the single-ply membrane that works on all types of buildings. This roofing system consists of rubber sheets and other synthetics that manufacturers can mechanically fasten, chemically adhere, or ballast to insulation. Doing so creates a surface of protection for your commercial building.

3. Metal Roofing

Metal roofing is a widely used commercial roofing system because it’s inexpensive, and roofing contractors can easily install it. Usually, roofing manufacturers create metal roofing by mixing in other materials, such as tin or aluminum. But most of the time, metal roofing systems will have corrugated galvanized steel in them.

You can also find that metal roofing is lighter than other roofing systems, so it won’t put too much stress on your roof once you install it.

In some cases, roofing contractors install it on top of an existing roof to serve as the outer layer of protection from harsh weather elements. You also have the option to add a coating for waterproofing, rust prevention, or UV protection.

And once the metal roofing wears out, you can replace it with a newer one without touching the initial roofing layer. It saves your roofing contractor a lot of time, especially when you want them to finish the roofing maintenance as quickly as possible.

If you want them to complete their work faster and safer, make sure you install a roof hatch safety railing around your roof hatch.

The commercial roofing systems mentioned above are some of the many that you can install on your building.

Whether you choose SPF, single-ply membrane, or metal roofing, be sure to ask for expert advice from your roofing contractors. They will be your best resource when you’re ready to install a new roofing system on your commercial building.
