The task has only just begun after your grass has been hydroseeded. It will take some TLC to make your newly hydroseeded area into a lovely, healthy, lush green lawn.

Instructions For Watering
Hydroseed should be watered three times a day for a total of 10-20 minutes each time.
Within 2-7 days, the green colour will disappear.
Watering should be done at 4:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 4:00 p.m. (Avoid watering after dark)
Depending on the season and weather, you can modify the watering. In the hot summer months, water more regularly and for somewhat longer cycles; in the cooler fall months, water less frequently and for shorter cycles.
In order to germinate correctly, the hydroseed must be kept moist. It is not necessary for the soil to be saturated all of the time.
DO NOT leave pools of water on your lawn; instead, keep the seed damp and moist at all times. After 4-6 weeks, you can begin to reduce the amount of watering at your leisure.
Hydroseed Maintenance & Care
- With adequate germination, germination will begin in some locations within 10-14 days, and a lawn will be ready to mow in 6-8 weeks. In 6-9 months, the lawn will be fully developed.
- For the first six weeks, keep as much traffic away from the newly seeded areas as possible.
- Due to varying amounts of sun, shade, and water, some areas will come in much better than others in the first few weeks. This is normal and typical with all hydroseed applications. When the lawn starts to fill in after 4-5 weeks, it’s a good idea to scrape up the thin spots and seed some of them by hand to help things along. For the best results, combine fescue, rye, and Kentucky bluegrass.
- It is highly advised that you apply an 18-24-12 beginning fertiliser to your lawn two weeks after we hydroseed it. An additional starting fertiliser application can be made three weeks after that application. For the first 10-12 weeks, do not use any weed control on the lawn.
- Weeds may appear in your grass; they can be controlled using a weed control fertiliser once the lawn has matured.
- Approximately 5 weeks after the lawn was hydroseeded, the first mowing will take place. To avoid causing damage to the new seedlings, it is recommended that you mow your grass while it is dry and with a push mower. Before the initial mowing, suspend water for a few days to allow the soil to dry completely. The clippings should be left on the grass, but any clumps should not be left on the lawn since they will harm the new seed.
- Avoid allowing the lawn to grow to an excessive height. This, followed by cutting it down to a normal height, will almost certainly injure the grass, making it difficult to restore to good condition. Hire someone to mow your lawn for you if you’re going on vacation or won’t be able to mow it for more than a week. Never mow more than 1/3 of the height of your lawn in a single mowing. If it has become overgrown, wait 4-5 days before mowing it down to a height of about 3″.
