Did you know that the USA construction industry reached $1.4 billion of expenditure in 2019 alone?

Despite turbulent economic conditions, the construction industry remains one of the most important parts of the US economy.

If you are in the construction industry, do you know the tools that are most frequently used? What are the most common types of machinery on-site?

Why not read on to learn more about heavy machinery that companies used on almost every site.

1. Bulldozers

The mighty bulldozer is the most common piece of machinery used in construction. They have tracks that allow them to drive over almost any terrain. Further, their tracks give them traction that allows them to use their front toll to push earth and other materials effectively.

Many models of bulldozer use pneumatic power to push a shoveling tool at the front. This means that you can use them for moving heavy loads such as aggregate in road building projects or even trees in forestry projects.

2. Dump Trucks

Another of the most common types of heavy machinery is the Dumpy truck. If you have any waste material that you need moving, you are likely to use a dump truck.

It has an open-box bed that can hold a large amount of material. This can then be lifted at 90 degrees in order to empty, or dump, the material.

3. Articulated Trucks

While you might not think of an articulated truck as a construction site tool, they do play an invaluable role. Think of the materials that have to be brought to the site or removed.

Each time you dig foundations or piledrive, you have to find a way to remove the earth you excavate to another location. Often this is by means of an articulated truck.

In other situations, you have to bring large pieces of machinery such as a bulldozer to the site. This is only possible by using trucks as machinery movers. Articulated trucks are invaluable to building sites.

4. Compactors

Often on-site you need to reduce the dimensions of something. For example, you compact earth roads to make them hard enough for heavy machinery to drive over them. A compactor can help you to do this.

There are many different types of compactor. Some are used for aggregate on roads. Others are used to compress the soil. Others still are used for concrete.

The Most Important Heavy Machinery You Will Need and Much More

If you are in the construction industry or are thinking of joining, these are the most important heavy machinery you need to know about. Whether you will be a machine user, project manager, or investor, you will need to have some knowledge of how they work and how much they cost.
