In order to open and operate any business in the United States, you must obtain a business license. This license will help your business become a legal entity in the state. Depending on your type of business, you must pay some fees to the state every year.

Employer Identification Number:

An Employer Identification Number or EIN helps the government know that you own a business and you are an employer so that the government can provide you with a tax ID. An Employer Identification Number is different from your federal number. The Employer Identification Number helps in legitimizing your restaurant business. With the EIN, you can easily hire employees for your business and put them on legal payroll without any trouble.

Certificate Of Occupancy:

The Certificate Of Occupancy is a permit, which is very important because it lets the government know that the building in which your business will reside is safe and has passed the final inspection.

Food Service License:

A Food Service License, also known as a Food Permit, displays that a restaurant is allowed to sell food has meets the requirements for food preparation, storage, and safety regulations.

Sign Permit:

A Sign Permit is needed to show the name of your restaurant outside of your restaurant’s building. It also allows you to change the permanent signage.

Building Health Permit:

A Building Health Permit displays that your restaurant building is clean and proper sanitation work is done. In most cases, you only need a Building Health Permit for new buildings, but in some cases, even older buildings are checked to ensure sanitary work and dining environments.

Employee Health Permit:

An Employee Health Permit shows that an employee has passed a course of proper health, sanitation, and safety practices in a commercial kitchen. This course teaches employees how they can properly store food and maintain proper sanitation.

Liquor License:

The process of obtaining a Liquor License varies from state to state, but the only thing that is the same is that they are hard to obtain, and they are some of the most regulated and strict licenses. A Liquor License is important if you want to serve liquor in your restaurant.

Applying for it as early as possible is suggested because getting your license may take up to one year. If you set up a bar, you must renew its license yearly. Also, if you have to plan your restaurant like a professional, consider checking some restaurant construction companies. It will make the planning work easier for you so that you can invest your time in obtaining the permits.

Seller’s Permit:

A Seller’s Permit lets the state know that your business collects tax from every customer’s purchase.

Valet Parking Permit:

A fine dining restaurant mostly has valet parking. If you want it too, you should apply for a valet parking order with your local government and discuss the plan with them to let them know the parking details and drop-off area.

Music And Entertainment License:

Music is essential to create a good ambiance in your restaurant. You can create a good playlist later because you’ll get a lot of time for it. Firstly, you should try to obtain a music license so that you don’t face any copyright infringements.

Dumpster Placement Permit:

A restaurant needs dumpsters to dispose of food and other trash waste. You need a Dumpster Placement Permit to do so. This will allow your restaurant to place dumpsters outside your building.
